no not three. it’s seven.
all seven of them nesting under our desks for two nights now. We wondered where the mother has gone to. Earlier today we started worrying because if the mother didn’t come back for her babies soon, they’d die of dehydration, cold, and hunger.
So we’ve made it our business to try to keep them alive until the mother comes back (if she ever does). At this point, its fair to believe that she’s abandoned them or something bad must have happened to her.
They’re about a few days old. These tiny little naked rodents, their ears or eyes haven opened yet, all huddled together for warmth. I don’t know what we should do. :\
its almost 5am. I’ve spent the past 5 hours rubbing their wee-wees every few hours trying to make them pee/poo so that they dont get infection and die. Tried feeding them a few times through a syringe as well, but they didnt take much of it. Tomorrow morning, i’m going to walk over to the neighbours house and ask if we could buy some of their goats’ milk for the mice. It’d be safer than those yucky bottled milk that comes from hormone injected cows.
I don’t know if we’d be able to keep them alive though. However hard we try. There’s 6 of them (one died last night), and they require so much attention. On top of everything, nobody really knows how to take care of newborn mice. The internet’s been helpful though.
I’m exhausted but i’m afraid to sleep in case somehing happens to them while im gone. They’re in a box with a mini heater thing and blankets, but im worried of all the bad scenarios that could happen.
1. the heater might over heat and they’d die from dehydration and heat
2. the heater will break and they’lll freeze over the night
3. they’ll starve because i oversleep.
4. the mother comes looking for her babies and cant find them cuz i hid them in a box on my table. :\
