I only watched
August to see how a fiction movie would portray 2000 Internet mania startup scene. That part is done pretty well, things ring true. Unfortunately, the movie itself is pretty flat. If I had to choose between it and
Startup.com, I am not sure which one I would choose. "We're running out of money" drama does not make the movie interesting in itself, since the outcome is pretty predictable. The main character is pretty typical dot-bomb millionaire, accurately portrayed, but not very interesting. One question jumping out in the movie, but not explored deeper is how the %&^& you feel when you have $387 million and lose it all in a month or two. Pretty depressed? That's probably an understatement. Maybe this movie IS about how you feel after losing $387 million. R6/10
