The job offer that I've been waiting for finally came in the mail today. While it was in no way assured, the unreality of getting something so close to my expectations seemed almost anticlimactic. Come next year, I'll be starting a full-time, real job with Deutsche Bank in Japan. I'm pretty fucking ecstatic but I almost can't convey it - not only do I have a decent job, but this means that I can stay in Japan for good. I've probably spent way more time than is healthy for a young man thinking about those two things lately.
The salary is pretty nice. It's not ridiculously high, but it's quite a bit more than I expected for my first job. The side stuff, including but not limited to a plane ticket, a nice relocation allowance, apartment setup money, and the possibility for a yearly bonus is pretty good too. I'm strangely excited since I'm not too familiar with Tokyo. It definitely seemed like the biggest and craziest city on Earth to me when I visited it, but I never imagined that I'd end up spending any time there. It looks like I'll be mostly working in Akasaka. I'm already having lots of fun imagining where my apartment's going to be, and what kind of neighborhood that I'm going to live in.
