The cute girl from last week emailed me back, so hopefully we can get together before too long. No matter what kind of job they have, everybody is insanely busy with work here, so it's nice to meet somebody who's a student. Not too much else to report, other than the fact that I've been really giddy for the past couple of days.
Earlier this week I got Dragon Quest 8, and I played quite a bit of it on Friday while having an email conversation with the aforementioned cute girl. It's strange - I'd seen videos and stuff of it before, but they didn't really convey how pretty everything looks. It seems like every cell-shaded game gets praised as, "looking just like a cartoon," but in this case I think the game lives up to that claim. The entire world is pretty, persistent, and 3D. Most things, especially the characters and monsters, strike you more as existing in some cartoon reality than being made up of identifiable polygons.
