Otakon-Take 2

Jul 20, 2009 23:48

"Treasure Hunter, oh Treasure Hunter. Where for art thou Treasure Hunter? Deny thy job class and refuse thy spoils, and I shall be a Magitech Knight no longer." This quote = pure undiluted epic.

That was shamelessly stolen from...umm...I think she went by Mith, but I shall call her "awesome Otakon opera girl".  [Brief note...just spent 5 minutes trying to upload a video of her singing the opera from FFVI in Italian...but for some reason I can't seem to upload video onto LJ without uploading it onto another site first...which is more hassle than I'm willing to deal with right now...so another time maybe]

Anywho, as stated previously, Otakon was pure win.  There was everything from a huge, box-headed Invader Zim to a tyrannosaurus jesus, to a Meru (from Legend of Dragoon...the best effing game ever!).  And another awesome thing was that there was so much to look at that nobody noticed the bright-red blotches on my freshly dyed Akihiko vest...yay!  Next time I think I'll read the instructions on the dye box BEFORE I just dump it into the washer...but eh...you live and learn right?

Thanks to a chance encounter with some other Persona 3 cosplayers in the dealers room, we were tipped off to a large (in my personal experience anyway) photo-shoot for various Shin Megami Tensei games.  It was pretty cool, although after awhile it just got silly.

Mari and I tried to hit the video game room to show some noobs how Guitar Hero should REALLY be played...but unfortunately they only had rock band...which I personally think is suck on wheels...and on top of that they were in the middle of a tournament.

Canli wound up with achey feet from her Mitsuru boots, but still looked fantastic, so it was worth it (hopefully for her too).

Ummm...what else.   AHHH!  Mizuho's voice actress (from Onegai Teacher...my favorite anime of all time (yes...Canli just scoffed for all of you...now YOU don't have to all do it...isn't she kind?)) was there...but unfortunately I couldn't get an autograph because she could only make it on friday, and we got there a bit late due to unexpected traffic delays.  It would have been nice to meet her, but it wasn't enough to dampen the weekend.

Well, anyway, I suppose I'm just babbling now...so I'll stop here.  Anyone who cared enough to read all of this...here, have a cookie.  ::Gives you a cookie::

Thank you for joining me on this edition of "Raiki's Rant"  see you again next week.
