Yesterday the power was out for most of the morning as a tree fell across the road between our house and the main highway through the valley down at the bottom of the mountain (Highway 9). So, we all had to use the back way to get to work. They had the power on by noon but the tree still wasn't cleared by the time we hit the hay. The power went out again at about 10:30PM but came back on and woke us up at midnight or so. Everything was dark and quiet and snoozing peacefully... Then all of a sudden all the lights we forgot to turn off popped on, things started beeping, computer fans started whirring. It was like Poltergeist.
yotie went down to check on tree removal progress earlier in the evening. Apparently there was a woman down there trying to turn around, cursing at the workers with their chainsaws, and threatening to call 911. I think the emergency crews already knew about the problem.
