The emergency room is fun, but this four-to-midnight schedule is kicking my ass.
It gives the illusion of having all day to yourself, and then throws you into work at four o'clock. The good thing is that time passes quickly in the emergency - there are always patients to see, and there isn't a lot of waiting around before the bed is cleared and another person is brought in.
I feel like I've got Franklin on my ass, though: "you people don't eat right!" Supper is strictly an on-the-go measure, which means I find my sandwich sometime around 5-7 and scarf that down, then eat my apple sometime later.
Thankfully I've found the cookie box - they had moved it on me in a vain hope of saving their precious crackers and baby cookies. But I prevailed! Its now tucked around the corner in C, instead of in plain sight in D. Hahaha! Fools!
So I survive on baby cookies for the rest of the night. Mmmm.
Only tonight I'm at the Hotel Dieu, not the General, so I'll be cookie-box-less. I'm thinking of going early, bringing my books and doing some Goat time before my shift, though. My legs are starting to ache, and though today is the first beautiful day we've had all week, I think I'll take a break from the running. Yesterday was deadly, though I did the full 15k. I'll break today then do 20 on my day off tomorrow and Saturday.
So then I work Sunday 4-12, then get Monday off, then do Tuesday and Wednesday at the Dieu, then Thursday off for my exam/quiz/OSCE thing, and then I work an 8-4 shift on the Friday.
Boo. But it'll be my last shift ever. That's pretty exciting.
And then its study/run/study/sleep rinse and repeat for two weeks and then the LMCC. Whew!
So I definitely need to make time for myself along the way or I'll burn out. So today I'll hit the goat or something, and tomorrow I'm going to catch the Jays game with John. Saturday is dinner with Bridesmaid #3, and I'll ask #4 if she wants to do Monday dinner after her big exam.
I'm so glad Bridesmaid #5 got her Great White North Elective!!! That means she'll be in town for the whole month of the wedding, and her and Maid of Honour of Awesome can keep me sane :)
R - I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to holding down some plastic chairs downtown. Some days I swear the thought is all that keeps me going. I feel like I'm just waiting for the next phase of my life to begin, and meanwhile I'm trying to get through the tail bits of this one.
Thankfully my fiancee said he'll send me chocolate for Easter. The man is sweet, but needs to be beaten about the head a bit before he gets what is supposed to be an indirect hint.
