I love her. Beyond all reason. I do not know how to tell various fandom acquaintances that I adore Adrian Veidt not because he is omg kawaii 100% but because he is badass and chills around with an awesome cat.

So when I see people arguing that she is "a useless component in the movie, just meant to stave off rabid fanboys" I START TO WISH GRAVE MISFORTUNATE ON THE KEYBOARDS AND PERHAPS EVEN THE FINGERTIPS OF THE MORONS WHO TYPE SUCH THINGS. May you burn yourself slightly on a hot mug, YOU NARROWMINDED FOOLBOT.

Ignoring the "fanboys" remark (lol hi), I think this complaint really sums up my ire with the Graphic Novel Camp. Their point: changing the end of the film means that Veidt doesn't have to parade around his capabilities in genetic engineering, therefore Bubastis is not at all important.

LOL.

So it is not notable in the development of Veidt's character that, while he approaches millions of human deaths as a way to gain leverage over warring countries, it pains him to sacrifice his closest companion? You ... think it's smart to remove evidence that he does understand personal loss? YOU BITCH ABOUT REWORKING A REALLY STUPID, SHITTY CLIMAX BUT CUTTING OUT A MINOR SCENE THAT HAS HUGE IMPACT ON THE CHARACTERIZATION OF YOUR MAIN ANTAGONIST IS A-OKAY?

Purists! Can be very dumb.

Also, if I see one more drawing of Bubastis as a catgirl making googly-eyes at Veidt, I will be forced to respond with poorly-sketched tentacle porn.
