Winter garden

Despite the extreme drought plaguing us at the moment, I still invested a tiny bit of money into some winter flowers for my front patio this afternoon. Joe made the comment that the front area was looking a bit "unkept" (I know he meant "trashy") and I'm afraid that he was right. Plus I needed to get the area spruced up for the company on Thursday. So, cleared away a few old empty pots, pulled up some dead foliage.... attempted to move my ginormous mums. Found out why that one pot in particular has sprouted about 16 feet into the air: it has actually rooted through the clay pot and into the ground.

Since it seemed to want to stay there that badly, I just let rooting mums be.

But then put out about nine pretty purple pansies and two of the rosemary cones. I've always wanted those, and figured they (decoration-style-wise) would carry through the Christmas season.

Anyway, that's my grand excitement for the day. Woohoo! No matter what you do, when your mom is relaxing her day away at a villa in Florence, Italy, well... nothing else you did that day really seems all that great. :)
