Surprise, it's June! But not in the way you would expect...

Something recently posted about survivor bias made me think about how life has always been hard, but our understanding of the difficulty keeps increasing. But we keep evolving systems to keep more people alive. But something both available to and unmentioned by the "unknowable horror" and "existential dread" camp is how there is no perfection, and it's an incomplete-information game, so even if we can push the Tetris score higher and higher, there is no way to "win".
...until, of course, you decide to define "winning" as something other than "play forever".6/1: On the road with Brother, S'mom, and Dad, (not sure about sister?) running late, Brother refuses to use his phone for something with traffic, get later; others are on a different flight, I have to stay behind because of checked bags, call Sweetheart to tell her I'm staying overnight in the airport. Shuttled and walked, wrote folks, cooked, called family.
6/2: Dream interrupted. Slow getup, tense discussion about food, easy conversation about tension, cobbler, wrote all kinds of people, watched Star Trek while eating lentils, called family.
6/3: Left Sweetheart at home, wrote doctor, researched Access, called county, watched Futurama, unexpected pub(?).
6/4: Walked through the woods, played games, sudden pasta, TV, watched "Tanu Weds Manu".
6/5: I have no idea what I'm saying here: "California - two other swirls, butter cake". "Walk around, bugs, lego heads, serfs and gentrification" - maybe that's what we were talking about? Watched Spy
6/6: Jurassic Park, exploring, crumbling bridge Watched (and followed) yoga video, wrote board, trimmed talons, guests with babies.
6/7: Got a blister doing dishes. Ate roti while watching "Chef's Table". House tour for Seth & Suzanne, absolutely delicious meal at Davio's, watched another round of "Mad Max", had fun reading reviews for silver cake spray on the way home.
6/8: Couldn't sleep - gas pains. More futurama. Late sleep. Sweetheart made me lunch. Invited lots of people. Shuttled and walked. Tried to go to movie, canceled. Tried a new restaurant, Inchin - burning mouth, chocolate spring rolls. Depression discussion.
6/9: Ate breakfast over the sink together. Left her at home. Goat cheese and pear for lunch. Visited Marlies in the hospital. Drove home in a thunderstorm. Bought groceries. Fried stuff and wonderful tomato soup for dinner. Called family.
6/10: Dream was a friends' wedding, they tell us to show all the traditions we can, one tradition trying to tear apart a small temporary structure, lots of Indians. Eggs, mushrooms, and spinach for breakfast. Trafficy morning, yelling for no reason in car. Puzzles, interoffice recharge, stress management call. Visited Georgia Tech. Walked around the area, started to join Green Drinks, decided not to. Ended up at Wingnuts - extra wings, D&D flashback. Nice views all over, ropes course, her family's history, mockingbird eating butterfly, spinny thing. Stopped by Butter & Cream on the way home.
6/11: Missed the alarm! Go Go Go! Made it to dentist on time, she went to Piedmont Park. Dentist said I have the same teeth my dad did at my age. Breakfast at Flying Biscuit midtown, reminiscing. Took the day off. Watched the first "Tanu Weds Manu" - damaged disc, watched the rest via YouTube.
6/12: Visited Marlies again, saw a Hawai'i license plate, met friends at Panera, lots of wedding discussion, home for D&D.
6/13: Weights, MetaGameWorld, Fantasia and grilled cheese, rushed to Atlantic Station, decided no way, Midtown Cinema, bought tickets, went to Tapa Tapa, ate Patata Brava, drank mojitos, watched "Jurassic World", hiked Beltline, saw a quadcopter over the old building, interesting art tiles, relatively early bed without supper.
6/14: Going shopping, family visits, meet Sweetheart's parents; scrolling through interweb Organization, win "Ladies & Gentlemen", nap, Indian dinner.
6/15: Dreamt about data entry - ugh. Visited Marlies in the hospital again, puzzles, checked toilet bolts (first read as "bowls", understandably), wrote checks, Fantasia and roti again.
