Goal For This Month: Post In Here More Than Once. (Tick-tock, tick-tock...)
Prelude to a longer post, most likely. (No, I lied - This is the long post... "Long post is..." yeah, yeah, whatever...) I'm still unemployed, I need to spend more time looking, and less vegging out on the computer web surfing, chatting, or playing games.
That doesn't mean to say I don't get out. I have been out and about quite a few times, it's just that most of the excursions aren't quite for public consumption.
I've been a bit introspective over most of today, primarily re-reading some of my LJ entries, especially the ones back in early January - In particular, a friends-filtered post from January 4th. That was a post where I mentioned I wasn't going to ALA this year. (I don't know when I'll be back, if ever. I'm still into anime, as well as cosplay, and I still value all the friends I've made over the last seven or eight years, but I'm having to re-evaluate priorities in my life. I'm not "retiring," but more like evolving, or rediscovering myself, or at least trying to find my true voice in this world.) I recall on January 4th, I said: "I'm also thinking about some personal issues with myself, issues that I really don't feel like discussing on here, even with Friends Only posting." - preciouslaura, thank you for responding to that post. I'm still not quite ready to talk about everything, but thank you for letting me know that some people out there are listening, and do care. If it helps, I'm drawing up a "short list" of people I know from LJ, FB, Twitter, anime and cosplay fandom, people I feel I can trust - If you're one of them, you'll know when the time comes.
I've just been more active on Facebook, for the most part, Twitter on occasion, and other projects since mid-June.
In the last few months, I've:
* Finally made it into the 2010s, and upgraded to a smartphone - I have a Samsung Captivate, my first Android phone, and I love it, despite the occasional quirk here and there.
* Bought a Nintendo DSi, and a few games I like for it.
* Acquired a netbook - Some of you may have seen it at Sac-Anime this summer. Eventually, it's going to replace the 2005-era laptop PC.
* Joined yet another social network, and made contact with, and started attending events with a support group up north of where I live. (One of these days, I'll be less vague about it.)
* Got back in touch with a couple of other friends in the area since Fanime 2010. (One of them is one of my former co-workers, since we both worked until our last day at relay in Salida.)
* Heard from one of my other friends who worked in relay for a while, surprisingly good news - He's reemployed, doing work closer to what he was trained for (He had a law license back east), though he and his wife have had to move to Arizona for the job. Hopefully I'll get to get in touch with him in a couple weeks.
* Done a LOT of soul-searching, and I'm trying to stay motivated, and do some things that need to be done (Mainly resuming hauling lots of stuff out of my room - There's stuff that needs to be stored off-site, or at least sold, given away, or junked if nothing else.)
There will be more to talk about, when I feel like talking about it. Yaoi-Con is on the horizon, and there maybe be a surprise in store. I'm still up in the area about what the rest of this week will bring, but I'm pencilling in some dates in my calendar between now and the rest of the year.
Hopefully, within 12 months from now, I'll be somewhat closer to getting back on track, and exploring whatever new directions I want to go along in my life.
