Cold War ( one shot)
It was in the morning when Hey! Say! 7 had their dance rehearsals. Hey! Say! Best had some photo shoot, so they were not there.
After 1 hour of hard and tiring practice, the trainer gave them a 30 minutes break. “You can take a break now. We will resume after half an hour,” The trainer said sharply and went out of the room.
As soon as the trainer said the word ‘break’, all 5 of them slumped on the floor. They were too exhausted to even get up. They practically have to drag themselves to the couch.
Ryutaro slept off at the couch. The other four just sat there… resting. After 10 minutes, all of them except Ryutaro have restored back their energy and became very energetic. Yuto walked to the radio and turned it on. He sat there and sang the song that was played.
Ryutaro was still fast asleep. “Ryu-chan looks so adorable when he’s sleeping. It makes me want to pinch his cheeks,” Chinen said excitedly. He extended his hands to Ryutaro’s face but was stopped by Yamada’s hand.
“Don’t wake him up,” Yamada said. Chinen pouted in return. “Mou~”
Yuto called the four of them in a whispering tone so that Ryutaro won’t wake up. He gestured them to sit with him. The others just followed him. They surrounded the radio and listened to Yuto’s voice.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Keito said “I’m thirsty. I’m going to get some from the vending machine. Want anything?” Yuto, Yamada and Chinen shook their head.
Yuto went to his bag pack which is behind him and fished out a camera. “Minna-san! Let’s take some pictures!” Yuto beamed.
They closed the gap and took some pictures. Yuto tilt his head, Yamada smiled from ear to ear… revealing his perfect teeth and Chinen pouts. Snap! Snap! Snap! Soon they were acting like a camwhore and changing their post every 5 seconds.
They heard ‘Harukana Yakusoku’ playing on the radio. “Let’s sing this song!” Yamada suggested. “But I don’t know the lyrics…” Chinen mumbled. Unfortunately the other two heard him.
“It’s okay Chii… U can video cam us instead,” Yuto said handing Chinen his camera. So for the next 5 minute… Yuto and Yamada were singing ‘Harukana Yakusoko’ while Chinen was recording both of them.
After finishing recording Yamada and Yuto singing, Chinen return back the camera to Yuto. The next song was ‘Mayonaka no Shadow Boy’. Yuto gave back his camera to Chinen.
“Can u be so kindly to video cam us again?” Yuto smiled sheepishly. “Fine,” Chinen grabbed the camera and put a pout on his face. “You can sing too if u wants,” Yamada grinned.
Chinen adjust the camera so that both Yamada and Yuto are in the screen. “I can’t see Yamada’s face!” Chinen whined. Yuto withdraw his head a few centimeters away. “I still can’t see Yamada’s face!”
This time Yamada moved his head forward. “Yuto… I can’t see your face!” Yuto adjusted to Chinen’s whining. “I stiil cannot see Yama-chan… Nope… Still cannot see!” Chinen whines again.
“Geez… your voice is so annoying!” Yuto said lamely. Immediately Chinen gave him ‘the’ look. They could see that Chinen’s face was plastered with shock. Yuto curses under his breath. Ohh no! Big mistake!!
“What did you just say Nakajima Yuto? My voice is annoying? Fine! Take the video yourself!!!!” With that, Chinen put the camera down with extra force and went away.
Yamada and Yuto followed him. “Chii, I’m sorry!!” Yuto pleaded. Chinen ignored him and sat down on the couch. When he saw the other two coming towards him, he ran towards the door and along the hallway to get away from them. Yuto and Yamada ran behind him.
Although he was small but he can run faster than Yuto. Chinen saw Keito holding a cup, walking towards them. Luckily Chinen swerved past him and avoided him. Yuto did the same. Unfortunately, Yamada bumped into him. Water splashed on Keito’s t-shirt.
Chinen could hear Yamada apologize to Keito again and again. He dashed down the stairs followed by Yuto. He saw Ohno and the other Arashi members and quickly ran to them. Arashi was busy talking and looking at a notice board to notice that Chinen was with them. Chinen hides behind Ohno’s leg, hoping that Yuto would pass them.
He wasn’t so lucky because Yuto could spot Chinen’s small body anywhere. At the corner of Chinen’s eye, he saw Yuto coming nearer and nearer to him. He panicked. He completely ignored Yuto and looked at the notice board. Yuto took Chinen’s hand and tried to drag him towards their practice room but Chinen used all his energy to stopped Yuto.
“Let me go!!!” Chinen wailed. “Not until u say ‘I forgive you Yuto’” Yuto protests. “No! Let me go!!!” Chinen screamed. “Not unless u forgive me!” Yuto used extra force to drag the younger boy.
Yuto stared at Chinen and gave up. “Fine!” He releases Chinen’s hand and storms off. On the other hand, Chinen just stared at Yuto’s back. He went to Ohno and cries to him. After some time, Chinen cooled down. When he thought back what happen… they were so childish to even fight at the first place.
“Ne Chinen-kun, don’t you have practice now?” Ohno asked. “Yabai!!! I missed practice!!” Chinen waved at them and ran to the practice room. When he got there, practice has ended. He could see the four of them packing their stuff in the room.
Okay Chinen… Let’s just forgive him… He mentally said to himself.
As he was entering the room, Yuto was going out. Their eyes met. Yuto stared icily at Chinen. One side of his mouth twitched upwards. Yuto walked pass him without even saying anything.
Chinen was dumbfounded. He couldn’t believe what just happen. “Did he… did he… just smirked at me?” Chinen questions himself. “Now there is NO WAY I’m going to forgive that idiot!!!!” Chinen flared.
For the next few days, both of them were not on talking terms. They glared at each other and refused to even say one word to each other. The others notice their behaviour. They tried to help them but the two of them are just too stubborn.
A few days later, Chinen was chatting on the internet with Ryutaro. Suddenly, Yuto send him a message.
Yuto: Yama-chan?
Chinen: Huh?
Yuto: Yamada…
Yuto: Why is your e-mail here shows Chinen’s e-mail address?
Chinen: because I’m Chinen!!!
Yuto: owh… sorry
Chinen: It’s okay
Yuto: Btw… sorry bout that day. I wasn’t in a good mood. Something came up.
Chinen: owh really?
Yuto: sorry I glared at you..
Chinen: Glared??!!
Chinen: You smirked at me!!
Yuto: I DID NOT smirk at you.
Chinen: Yes you did!
Yuto: Fine~
Yuto: U can bash me now…
Chinen: it’s okay… I’m not in the mood…
Yuto: Not in the mood for bashing?
Chinen: Maybe…
Chinen: Let’s just forget about everything!
Yuto: Yup… let’s forget about everything!
Chinen: Friends?
Yuto: Definitely friends…
And that was the end of their cold war. The next day they walked in the jimusho hand-in-hand and smiled happily.
