I'm fairly busy, and my mouth feels like it's full of Liquid Paper -- It's still weird that Mrs. Nesmith invented that -- but I wanted to say that I'm finally getting into the reading again.
Fortunately, they start the book up with a scene from the life of Lady Jane Grey, so my brain was all "Yay!" rather than "Ack! Statistics and jargon! No!"

I remember reading a biography of her once that really pissed me off. It said that the whole "she was scared of her abusive parents" thing must've been all in somebody's head, because she was elsewhere shown to be a quite capable of holding her own in debate, ergo she wasn't shy, ergo she couldn't have been a scared kid.

Yeah, right. Being witty and intelligent and opinionated in the presence of some people does not mean you can stand up to your mother. It just doesn't. The evidence that Lady Frances was an overbearing intimidating bitch is in black and white, and the fact that other people weren't so much of a problem for Jane lies in the fact that those other people were not Lady Frances.

Yeah. Typing historical rants when I'm actually at work does show that whole "cultivation of work ethic" thing is still flawed. Oh well!

Dole's Mandarin Oranges have a very lingering sweetness. It's like you're still tasting them twenty minutes later.

...Just realized I still haven't read the comics my husband bought Wednesday. Wow, my brain's been very elsewhere....
