Missed passing by One Damn Vote. Thank goodness for people like the senator from Hawaii, who was aware he didn't lose an arm (or whatever his injury was) for a piece of cloth.
The right to be in somewhat poor taste is hardly my favorite to fight for, but I'm embarrassed that it came this close to being taken away via constitutional amendment.
Senator Vitter I expected. Senator Landrieu's making a lot more compromises than I think is reasonably necessary. I'd say I'd make note of that come election time, but with the seniority system, a brand-new Senator wouldn't be able to get as many necessary things done ...of course, it's hard to say how much of the coastline issues are really being adequately dealt with, and what's just words.
