This is a comic I should have posted a long time ago. Unfortunately, life got busy. In addition, I'm very distracted at the moment, what with Avatar ending and Comic Con just a blink away. Still, I'd like to take a moment and present my art Submission for the 2008 HD Worldcup: Team Epilogue, Wands!
Title: Something in the Brewing
Artist:
red_rahlFor:
hd_worldcup 2008, Team Epilogue, with the prompt of Wands
Rating: R
Character/Pairing: Harry/Draco, Harry/Ginny, past Draco/Astoria
Warnings: Brief wandplay, possible infidelity.
Disclaimer: This art is based on characters and situations and owned by JK Rowling and various publishers. No money is being made and no copyright or trademark infringement is intended.
Summary: One of Harry's kids is sick and only Draco knows how to brew the potion to save him. But is something more than just a potion in the brewing?
Special Thanks to: Team Epilogue Captain NQ and all my teammates for the help and the motivation and the cheering, especially my art peeps. And a most sincere thank you and dedication to
blamebrampton, for the gracious bestowing of this plot bunny to me. I'm eternally grateful for your inspiration and your trust that I could do something with this fantastic idea.
Artist's Note The suit of wands is connected with careers, fire, creativity and energy (passion), which I used as my principle inspiration.
- This was a very challenging story to try and craft, going down to the wire to meet the deadline, but I was very pleased with how it worked out. The final panel count still makes me twitch, given how much time I had to execute everything. For this posting, I've gone and done some minor editing and touch ups.
- I learned a bit about drawing older men, with their extra lines and broader angles. In particular, with Draco, I've come to love his damn receding hairline. It was suggested that I use Jason Isaac's sexiness as a reference for making hair loss hawt and it totally helped. O_o
- Upon the suggestion of my teammates, I used Chatsworth House as the model for Malfoy Manor.
- The Draught of Sleeping Beauty was really fun to think up and explore. It was fun to play with the idea of how this potion could have given rise to a well-known fairytale. ^_^
Final Warning: Large jpg files ahead. I apologize in advance for that.
