January 29th
to now....
i cant believe its finally...the day that I leave Dresden.
When we first got here...5 and a half months seemed like an eternity...but when you experience the things that I've experienced, seen the places I've seen, and met the people i've met...i guess time really flies.
I'm really sad...Dresden has been home for the past half year and it'll always be home ....and i'm gonna miss it
Home is where the heart is. Mine is scattered by miles and time. - The Ghost
my man Tim deMarco put that up in his away message i figured it was appropriate.
So today i'm packing up my life here into 3 suitcases, with all the memories of the greatest time of my life, cleaning up our apartment where i've lived and learned for the past 6 months.
And tonight we come full circle...our first night in Dresden, where else would our RA's take us but the Gutz...and from that first night where we drank beautiful german beer and played Stiefel and met the kids for the first time that would be my good friends that I would travel Europe with, we arrive at tonight...our last night in Dresden, and where else would we be but at the Gutz.
Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name..
i know, i'm a sap
I've already said too many goodbye's here...its hard...the german people here that have been our friends and advisors have took care of us and made this the best time of our lives, they are amazing...
You wont know who i'm talking about but Silke, a little german woman who has the greatest enthusiasm and attitude of any person i've ever met...soliving our problems and making everything here run as smoothly as possible.
Our RA's...Gabe, my RA who is quite the character, leading us to Leipzig and Meissen and Prague...and always being a guy you can chill with and have a beer and ag reat time...
Tibor- probably the chilllest guy i've ever met...that hungarian fuck...i'm gonna miss him haha...he's just the greatest guy...took me under his wing way back in february around teh tiem we went to Berlin, teaching me german on the side...talking to me and having german conversation with me whenever i wanted to chill and have a beer.
And of course....Tim...The smooth operator...without him this time wouldnt be the same...he gets it all done and words cant express the amount of thanks we have for this guy...From baby dicks, to pig heads...lol shit i'm gonna miss him
The guys at the Gutz and other german friends that have taken us out to parties...chilled with us at the gutz, come to our parties...and been just the coolest guys....Stefan, Denis, Alex, Black Martin, Hip-Hop Martin...goddam
So tomorrow I say goodbye to Dresden, a home away from home, the memories of the greatest time of my life will always be carried with me whereever i go and whatever i do...I'll never forget this or the people that i experienced this with
Ich liebe dich, Dresden

p.s. if any of you ever get the opportunity to study abroad, especially in europe, or even more specifically germany....do it...please do it...it will be the greatest experience of your life...i'll guarantee it...and you will become a better person...your experiences will make you understand the world better, understand people from all over the world, and understand yourself
no joke...dont pass this up if you get the chance
