The excitement for today

We had Mom over for dinner tonight, so we were walking Bo a little later than usual. It was just about getting dark. We'd made our rounds of the park and were on our way home, when we realized there was an elderly woman sitting on the sidewalk ahead of us, clutching the leash of a small mutt-terrier sort of dog. The mutt-terrier was wandering ( Read more... )

She's very lucky you guys found her (and that Bo didn't eat her). I'm older than you are and have definitely reached a point where some things are possible but not pretty, like getting up from the ground. Losing weight would be a huge first step and I know it, but it's also a hard one. You were wise not to wait before taking charge of things.

Honestly, the more I read about the problems people have with weight loss, the more I think that it's better to just eat healthy and try to stay active rather than trying to lose weight per se. :/

I dunno - tripping over and uneven pavement can happen to anyone I suppose but good that you could help!

My belly dancing teacher makes us do Pilates stretches at the end of the lesson and says I am incredibly flexible so I have to do the advanced exercises - pleasing at 56 :)

It was more the not being able to get up that worried me. But I suppose getting knocked on the head will put a crimp on anyone's flexibility.

The more I think about it, the more it sounds like she might have a closed head injury. I hope her neighbors take her in to be checked. I had a younger friend who took a similar fall. It took a couple of days to realize there was something serious going on.

It was definitely a good thing you came along because otherwise she might have been there for a while.

And yeah, things can sneak up on you really at any age.

It's a fairly well-traveled park, but yeah, I'm glad we found her when we did.

I worry about that too. Comes to all of us if we live long enough, I guess.

I worry about that same switch. I don't mind a lot of things about getting older, but that one frightens me. I'm really going to hate needing help.
