Hoop-Jumping
So there's this questionnaire you fill out as part of the application progress. It's supposed to give the recruiters an idea of your management style, and it contains questions like this:
1. One of your direct reports is struggling with a project. Do you:
A. Tie them to the mainmast and deliver forty lashes while babbling maniacally about strawberries.
B. Hide under your desk when they come in to your office, and make squeaking noises in the hopes that they will think you are a mouse and go away.
C. Work with the employee to solve all their problems and live in a land of rainbows and kittens!
D. Tie string to their wrists and ankles and yell "DANCE, MY PUPPET, DANCE!"
The scary thing is, I am not exaggerating that much. And I am really wondering if, somewhere out there, there are actually people taking this questionnaire and thinking, "Hmm, I had really better answer 'A'!"
