Is home, and so far, so good. Mainly it's 11-month-old terrier = ALL THE ENERGY. He is curious but polite about the cats, and he and Bo have been chasing each other madly around the yard and shaking out who's boss (so far, Bo.) He knows sit, and he's familiar with being crated, though we're going to have to teach him that he goes into his, not Bo's. I'm starting right in on teaching him to sit quietly to come inside, and to get his food - he's already getting the hang of the former, so he's pretty smart. He has a habit of jumping up to grab things he wants, so we'll have to work on that. Luckily he gives things up fairly easily once he has them.
I think we're going to go with Felix as a name. Training schedule:
1. Reinforce sit & teach him to sit until we give the release word
2. Down
3. Leash manners - man, I think of Bo as a puller, but I now realize just how much he's improved since we first got him. Luckily Felix is not nearly as heavy. He's about 35 lbs now, not quite done growing and skinny, but I don't think he'll top out at much more than 45 lbs.
4. Go in crate on command
5. Off (furniture - he walks around on top of furniture like a cat)
6. Drop it
We'll see how that goes!
