Thanksgiving weekend was somewhat subdued as Kathy's been sick, but dinner was good and there were the obligatory leftovers. We ordered new security screen doors for both the front and back doors, and with any luck we can get them installed within the next week. I also made a new and slightly less florid theme for my DW journal. It needs some tweaking (I can't figure out exactly which elements in the style sheet are which, in some cases) but I rather like it.

I got some work done on the next installment of "Little Sister" today, and I've been slowly cleaning up the chapters of "Necessary Evils" I posted to AO3. The contrast depresses me. It's not that LS is a bad story, but at the moment my prose has all the verve and excitement of day-old 7-Up. I'm writing what should be a very dramatic fight scene, and I might as well be narrating someone walking into the drugstore to buy chewing gum. I know that this is something that I can fix in revisions, and I am often a poor judge of how well something actually works when I'm in one of these moods anyway. Still, I mope.

Part of the problem is that the fight takes place in a bare room with nothing much to describe. Part of the problem is that the POV character is only a bystander in the fight. Possibly I need to change POV characters... but this particular character is the one whose emotional take on the fight I need to get. Sigh. Although also possibly I could maintain Buffy's much more exciting POV through this installment, and switch back to Addie in the next installment, once the fight is over. Hmm. Maybe I'll try that.

I'm getting one of those post-nasal drip sore throats. I hope I'm not coming down with Kathy's cold, but I probably am. Bleah.
