I’ve had either a mild cold or nasty allergies for the last week. Blargh.
I will not have what I hoped to have ready for the Lynnevitational. I should have something, but between stupidly signing up for two ficathons at once, and recurring bouts of insomnia, sniffles, and various other ailments that incline me to sit listlessly in front of the monitor rather than actually applying fingers to keyboard, writing has Not Been Going Well lately. I desperately want to post something finished for a change, and then finish up Little Sister and Road To Byzantium, and then get back to working on some of my older WIPS. Gah.
Finished watching the first season of Dexter recently, and I read the first two books in the series. Normally I tend to like books better than their adaptions (though this may because I usually read the books first) but in this case, the TV show blows the books away - not just because Michael C. Hall does an incredible job portraying the main character, but because the secondary characters are people rather than props, and the mystery is solved in a far more satisfying and realistic way. The books have an unfortunate tendency to make all Dexter’s problems go away far too conveniently - they strike me as a really cool idea which isn’t executed very well. The show takes that really cool idea and does much better with it. (And Dexter’s narrative voice in the books just bugs me for some reason.)
I don’t have synesthesia. But I do associate numbers with colors and landscapes. 3 is yellowy-tan, and prairies. 6 is green and deciduous forest. I don’t know what’s up with that.
