I kind-of sort-of disagree with number 3. I wouldn't say I like criticism, because of course I think my work of art is pefect, dammit, but I'm so used to getting it that it pretty much rolls off my back. The crying and sobbing was for when I got screamed at in front of the whole office, and I had to save the tears for the privacy of the ladies' room. ;)
I wanna quibble with this. I would be willing to accept it if 4) were phrased differently.
Yes, there is a part of me inside sobbing (well, more like wailing, and sometimes gnashing teeth, but it comes to the same thing) when I get criticism, but there is another part of me eagerly writing it down and figuring out how, next time, NEXT TIME, I can write this so not even this picky, unkind person will find any flaws.
Which is not the same thing as liking it, I know. But there comes a moment, later, after a rewrite, when the story is improved that the writer feels gratitude.
