My next whim article

I need people to proof read this for me. Any suggestions/corrections just leave as a comment. Thanks you guys.

From now on I no longer want to be referred to as white or Caucasian. I want to be known as a European American. Better yet, I want to be known as a Scotch-Welsh-Irish-English American. Does this sound idiotic to you? It does to me. But why do some people allow themselves to be called African American?
The term African American is supposed to be the politically correct way of saying someone is black. You aren’t allowed to say black because there are many different shades. Big whoop. Irish people and Italian people are both under the term “Caucasian,” but their skin colors are very different. The terms are also both incorrect for the most part. Caucasian refers to the Caucus region on the border of Europe and Asia where the white people are supposed to have originated from. This is now being reviewed by geographers and asdjhalk and is becoming increasingly evident that this term is a misnomer. As for African Americans, it is supposed to represent their ancestors who came from Africa. This may be a little more correct than “Caucasian” is, but nonetheless, how many black people do you know who can tie their roots back to Africa? How many have ever been to Africa for that matter? What about those who are white from South Africa? Do they have the right to be labeled as Africans?
I understand a need to connect to your roots, but sometimes they aren’t always the best thing. The South lost war. Get over it. So why do people still display Confederate flags? Many of the black people here who can legitimately trace their ancestry back to the slave trade were sold by their own people. Why do people feel the need to show pride in something where there shouldn’t be?
Of course I have all the answers, so here is my answer to this problem. You are American. I am an American, Rick Snee is an American, Brian Seay is an American. By labeling ourselves as white, or black, or any other color for that matter, we are only continuing racism. You want everyone to be equal? Try stop pointing out differences between the races by labeling someone as to where their super-great great ancestors (sometimes falsely) came from.
Those who are continuing to point out these differences for some type of gain are as racist as those who use them for harm. Affirmative action for example, should not exist. Because you have a different skin color than I do, that does not make you any more or less qualified for a position. Opportunities should be awarded because of the work you have done and the qualifications you possess. Do you really believe people like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton want to see the eradication of racism? Hell no because they would be out of a job. Coming from a political science view that life is the struggle for power, these men would instantly lose any recognition if there was no longer a way to divide our country between white and black.
So stop being overly PC because it is only causing more hurt than it is creating. As long as we are reminded of these differences, there will never be any progress.
