Nine Little Fishes
Originally uploaded by Ragnvaeig. Finding period blackwork motifs can be time-consuming! But I managed to find a late 16th century English forehead cloth that had fishies done in blackwork, and used that as inspiration for the fishies on the coverpanes. Since I intend for these to be use items (I prefer to give people functional items) I did the Holbein stitch in polyester instead of silk, so they'll hold up better in the wash.
I hope H. likes them, as I think they're adorable.
