Fishy Coverpanes - Part One

Hemstitching
Originally uploaded by Ragnvaeig. So, one of my friends from Æthelmearc made me some soapstone spindle whorls, and said "Make me something pretty," when I asked what I could make her in return.

I've put together these three hemstitched linen coverpanes, with drawn thread work I've seen on 16th and 17th century pieces.

I'm intending to do a bit of blackwork on them, too, and her arms incorporate fish. I'd found an image of a late 16th century English forehead cloth with blackworked fish that had come up for auction at Christie's, so I think that design will do nicely.
