Colbert and the Ten Commandments

Jun 16, 2006 14:17

Colbert got a Congressman on his show this week for his "Better Know a District" segment. This time around, it was Lynn Westmoreland, a Republican who is in favor of the public display of the Ten Commandments.

Colbert at one point asks Westmoreland if he can name the Ten Commandments. The Congressman looks stunned, and then tries. He gets three.

I tried it myself. I got 8. I blanked on "Don't worship idols" and I lumped "Don't covet your neighbor's property" with the commandment against adultery.

Funny and sad all at the same time.
