I had an idea for a video game

I've been playing around with an idea for a video game this weekend. Not that I have the skills (at the moment) to actually write the code. But it's been fun.

I've been a fan of Doctor Who since I was a kid, and for the record the new season rocked. So how about a Doctor Who video game? I was thinking that you could have the option of starting with the William Hartnell Doctor or design your own starter character. Each time you die, you're sent back to your save point in the TARDIS and "regenerate." So if you chose Hartnell, you'll regenerate as Troughton, and so on & so forth. If you created your own starter character, you'll regenerate into a randomized character. I was thinking that every time you regenerate your stats randomize somewhat, but that they tend to improve over time. Also, it would be nice to have modifiers for going for long periods without being killed. For the record, I think that the Collin Baker Doctor should use the outfit described in the radio plays (let's pretend that the grunge clown outfit never existed). After the Tennant Doctor, the last 3 bodies would just be randomized new bodies.

You could include puzzles, mysteries, combat, gadgets (like the sonic screwdriver!), an impressive rogue's gallery, and time manipulation. I also think it would be interesting to have his rogue's change with each regeneration. So if you were facing the Cybermen as Troughton and were killed, when you returned as Pertwee they would be the Pertwee era Cybermen.

sci-fi, video games, tv show: doctor who
