I'm going to post the vast majority of my Colonial Fleet photos tonight.
I had a lot of fun Thursday night.
I was invited by
ramboballerina to meet up with her at the Hyatt Bar, so I went around looking for her. Instead, I bumped into one-woman-army and the Colonial Fleet. I got invited up to Syko's room party, and had a really great time. Met a lot of fun people, too.
I was also happy to learn that one-woman-army was pretty mobile. I think she was in pain the entire time, but she was still able to walk around without the use of a cane.
Truth be told, I'm kinda curious how her feet are doing with a week's healing time.
Ramboballerina made her way to the room party a bit later, so I still got to hang out with her.
One-woman-army came up with three Galactica-themed cocktails, and they were all quite good.
I think my favorite was the Tigh-One-On.
Neil and Marsella, I believe.
This guy looks so much like George Lucas. He was fun to hang out with.
Syko!
The classic BSG jacket goes so nicely with a kilt, don't you think?
Kevin Grazier is the science advisor for Battlestar Galactica and Eureka. He's also a nice guy.
Kris' costume was awesome.
Camille was a lot of fun to hang out with. We had a neat conversation about Australia the next (Friday) night.
The object in her cleavage is a condom.
It's a novelty condom labeled "Battlestar Prophylactica," iirc.
I don't think one-woman-army was that drunk. I think I just caught her mid-blink.
I think this is a nice picture of Jessica (Starbuck from the Colonial Fleet).
It was eye level.
Phoenix, AKA
ramboballerina!
I never got around to getting her to shout "What are you, retarded? I'm the God Damn Ramboballerina!"
Ramboballerina with Kevin Grazier.
I think this is Hero from the Colonial Fleet.
It was kinda weird. As the first wave of Colonial Fleet people left, a second wave came in. I don't think the second wave were all members at that point, though. I think they were drafted when people saw their outfits.
Syko threw a great party, and by this point he was pretty wiped out.
I believe her name was Maria. She was fun to talk to, and she had a lot of great costumes she wore this year.
I don't really have a lot of photos from Friday night.
I got invited to two parties: the Steampunk Party and the Colonial Fleet room party. I went to the Steampunk Party for a bit before going to the Colonial Fleet party.
Both were a blast. I met some new people at both parties.
Unfortunately, the Colonial Fleet party got shut down a bit early (11 pm, maybe?).
So I made my way back to the Steampunk Party....which was shut down maybe an hour later. It's my understanding that somebody threw beer bottles from the balcony.
At any rate, I had a fantastic time.
This is my friend Jenna. We bumped into each other while waiting in line for the official Colonial Fleet Party Saturday night.
I have forgotten his real name (Dave?), but his callsign is Eggroll. He was a lot of fun at all the parties.
Here he is providing security for the Colonial Fleet Party.
There's actually a guy in that costume.
The party was packed, and loads of fun.
I have no justification for how much I enjoy that guy's costume.
I'm going to post a few photos of one-woman-army's set (which I greatly enjoyed). I'll post the rest of them as a separate post.
This is Trin, aka
lenina.
I enjoyed meeting and hanging out with her. Plus, she had the neatest anecdote.
There were several cast members at the party (Aaron Douglas stayed longest, but Jamie Bamber and Mark Sheppard were also there). Trin built a large schedule board as a sort of decoration.
She was standing looking at it as she heard a man's voice behind her say "That looks nice."
She turned around and it was Jamie Bamber.
It's a blurry pic, but I just thought it was fun watching them dance.
By this point, I am busted. They start posing.
Val AKA Cookie AKA
brilliantnova.
As I recall, one-woman-army started with her song California and wrapped up with All Along the Watchtower.
I enjoyed the set.
I believe Aaron Douglas' words after hearing All Along the Watchtower was "I have heard that song so many fucking times..."
Douglas is a great emcee.
The dance music was pretty eclectic.
I think the song that people had the most fun dancing to was Michael Jackson's Thriller.
Daniel proved to be a very good dancer.
He's wanting to put together a Billy costume for next year. I think he could pull it off, though it would help immensely to have a good Dee or Roslin to stand next to.
I think he could also pull off a good Gaeta outfit.
This would be when the costume contest started up.
Aaron Douglas was raving over how accurate the costumes were.
This guy was fun to talk to. I'm blanking on his name, but he was pretty stoked over meeting Mark Sheppard. Apparently Sheppard liked his outfit.
He also said that he got the cane exactly right.
Baltar!
Baltar and Six!
Third from the left is
whisperwords.
Carmen!
Okay, I saw this girl and thought she looked familiar. So I asked her if I'd met her at one of the previous Galactica room parties. She said no. I told her my name, and she said her name was Carmen.
She asked if I'd met Aaron Douglas. I said I hadn't spoken with any celebrities this year, but I got to hang out with Aaron Douglas a lot at last year's con.
She said she had too.
We started trading anecdotes, and having a good conversation.
Then I realized....I had met Carmen last year....we were both talking to Aaron at the same time.
I had taken the picture she's got of herself with Aaron that she was talking about.
Hell, I have her e-mail address.
This amuses me on some profound level.
Aaron Douglas is a manly man.
There was a raffle with the proceeds going to charity. Aaron and Jessica emceed as they gave out prizes.
Aaron is a very charismatic guy, and started teasing this one guy (I think his name was Shawn).
Aaron Douglas said something like "I'd have to shave you before I kiss you." I don't remember what he was reacting to, but it was really funny.
Shawn comes back with "Shave my back!" and floored Aaron.
He just looked at him and said "I will sign ANYTHING you want me to sign."
Then he looks at his crotch and says "But not that."
Here's a much better photo of Carmen.
Romo!
I helped the Colonial Fleet clean up the party room, and afterwards we went in search of more fun.
We eventually found another room party, and I ended up drinking with people until around 4 in the morning.
Much fun was had by all.
whisperwords!
Very dark pictures of Emily.
That reflective tape made for some interesting shots.
The Doctor found his way to the room party. He was very fun to hang out with. Great costume.
He was also very, very drunk.
I think that's Sarah (Ginger from the Colonial Fleet?) alongside whisperwords.
The next day, I went to dinner with whisperwords and her friend Sarah.
It was fun. I also got to see an iPhone close up for the first time (Sarah works at the Apple Store, I believe).
There was another Colonial Fleet Party Monday night, but I didn't make it. I spent Sunday night hanging out with
ComicBookResources people, and attended the Cruxshadows Concert.
