Rome Season 2, Episode 3

Jan 30, 2007 00:18

Rome was incredible, as usual.

We see nothing of Octavian this episode, but his presence is felt by everyone.

The practical, storytelling reason that they did not show Octavian is because with Episode 4 we will be getting an entirely new actor playing the part (Simon Woods). I'm not sure how far they're jumping ahead when they show us Octavian again. I'm not sure quite how much time has passed already. Marc Antony is already planning for the end of his consulship, so it's conceivable that it's aleady been several years.

My first impression of Agrippa is not a positive one, but I enjoyed seeing him play opposite Octavia. So I think he has promise. I just don't like seeing how he treats his inferiors.

I enjoy Jocasta in all her pomposity. I laughed a bit when she said "Papa is hideously rich."

Pullo and Vorenus have fallen out again. This time, Pullo has his life together, and Vorenus is dangerously unhinged. The "Did you fuck my wife?" scene was entertaining.

Vorenus is now a member of Marc Antony's army. By Episode 4, I expect Pullo to join with Caesar Octavian's forces.

And I hope that the two of them team up one last time in order to rescue Vorenus' children.
