Long live the South

Wow these past few days have been so awesome. Canon explosions, bombs going off, gun fire. Pretty awesome. Anyways wow wear to begin. Well let's start at the begening.

The drive up to Jefferson was a nice and pleasant one. I enjoyed the drive. I made wonderful time and was checked in and unpacked pretty quickly. Since it was a busy weekend being the historic pilgrimage and all I decided to eat first and try and somewhat beat the crowed. I ate at the hotel's restaurant, lamanchies. I had my usual lasagna and it was so amazing!! Christina was there too and she waited on me. She's so awesome and beautiful. We talked a little and it was good seeing her again. There were other familiar faces I saw too around the hotel.

Anyways on Saturday, that was the start of the events. They had a awesome prade that came through the down town area. The confederate soldiers came in marching and we all were hootin and yellin. Some screamed long live the south and to death with those yankees!!! After the parade, the union soldiers begin their attack on the city of Jefferson. Earth shaking gun fire filled the streets as union and confederates fought. The town skirmish lasted about a half hour. There were dead soldiers lying in the streets (well they weren't really dead they were playing dead) and it was so realistic. Confederate soldiers drove the union troops past the big cyrpus bayou where the stage would be set for a 2 day battle.

Later that day was the battle. That was really great and I praise God because it was raining and it stopped and despite the over cast day it was nice for both battles on sat and Sunday. The battle was awesome. It was so awesome seeing those Canon's fire and blow up tents and dirt and stuff. It shook the ground.

Today, I went to the color guard presentation. It was awsome watching the confederate troops come in and all line up as the miltiary drums were going and the bonnie blue flag was being played. There was a short presentation and then we all sang "Dixie" it was awesome!!! After that I went to First Baptist Church Jefferson for Sunday service and from there went to the Battle. After that came back did some shopping but didn't find anything but it was fun looking around. And tonight has been a quiet evening

I have really had a wonderful time. I got to talk with a lot of people and learned lots about reenacting. I want to go next year and this time take more of a active role, maby playing a civilian or something. I want to wear Victorian clothing. I think that style of clothing is so cool.

So anyways, that's the past 2 days in a nut shell. It is nice and quiet now and I am looking foward to a few days of nice and quiet around the hotel. Maby see a ghost. ha!

Hope everyone is doing well. I shall be home late Wed night. God bless and hope you all have a great week!!
