STAAAAAINED GLAAAASS CLAAASSEEEEEESSSSSS!

Man, I am LOVING my stained glass classes. You know... the whole two I've had so far. Plus the "try-it" workshop! Haha- really, at the end of the first class I was thinking I'd have my current project done by the end of the second class, and that did not happen, and my brain was silly and thinking "I'VE ONLY GOT 8 WEEKS LEFT!" My instructor laughed at me. :P But really, I am learning something new each week, and it's awesome! This week, I learned that glass cuts hurt less than paper cuts. Interesting! Yes, I learned that one exactly how you think: first hand experience.

Other things I've learned:
• This is an expensive hobby!
• I go to the glass store and want to buy ALL THE GLASS. It's so pretty. SO. SO. PRETTY!
• Cuts you think are perfectly straight are really not, so much.
• I actually don't mind foiling!
• Glass likes to be round.
• Don't cut strips of 1/2 an inch. The cutting is fine, but they'll nearly disappear when foiled.

I'll definitely finish my current project in class #3. It's the Triforce! All "straight" cuts- HA. Next I'm going to make Fawkes the phoenix from the Harry Potter books, based upon potterpuffs artwork. That LJ is now defunct, but you can see what I mean here. Then I'm going to try the TARDIS! *Gasp!* That one will be a bit tougher. THEN, if I still enough class time left, I'm going to do a swimming fish pattern from a free pattern published by a glass company. A "professional" pattern, not one I pull out of my bum. :)

I'm just loving this so much. I've wanted to learn stained glass for literally years now. It hit me this week, what "Whoa- I'm actually DOING it." It's so awesome!
