wellwellwell, this weekend was a weekend unlike any other. i started it ff by goin up to upper dublin with yoni, which so unbelievably beat, yoni accused me of being anti-social but dont know if he realized how little fun that was. always better than staying home of course. now, last nite, GUUUUUSSSSSS comes over around 5:30 and we head on down to the electric factory(havent been there since DISPATCH) for silvertide. now, i always thought they sounded too much like led zep to be original, but i think their style has changed dramatically since i first heard them. now, they are unbelievable, so energetic and just a blast to watch perform. also, considering the first band sucked, i was glad to see them come on stage. they play a 45 min. set and im blown away, like ive never seen a band perform quite like they do, except for the stones, but they have no equal so it wouldnt be a fair comparison. on top of being able to see a great show, gus knows the lead guitarist, nick, who is probably the most mellow, humble future rockstar ive ever met, like he was asking us if his cover of "rock and roll" was any good, i was just thinkin to myself: "is he kidding? it was unbefuckinlievable!" He and the rest of the band are really about the music and about the fans, and most importantly, about their hometown. so what i was saying was that gus knew the guitarist so we got backstage passes, and we had some trouble getting back there after the show, so we followed nick's mom(her husband cuts gus and his dad's hair, so thats how he knows them) through the crowd and she finally got us in. i mean i couldnt imagine having backstage passes and not being able to come backstage, especially when one of the band members wants us back there.
so gus and i just take in the whole backstage experience, get our pictures taken for the website, and gus had his first shot of JD, im so proud of him! anyway, silvertide, when they get more material and more recognition from people outside philly, they will be filling up stadiums, i have no doubt about it. best weekend ever.
