Where were you when religion became a science? Seriously, the person referred to creationim and intelligent design as scientific theories, which just goes to show how ignorant they are on the whole debate.
On the other hand I have seen people treat science as a religion and have found them more irritating than your typical religious zealots.
Dogmatism is tiresome irrespective of whose agenda is being served. Luckily, I've sort of given up on people liking me, so I don't mind just walking away from the fuckwits when they're ranting at me and getting their drool in my coffee.

I've re-read this letter four times now, and it's painful every time. The letter borders on incoherent, and the reasoning is weak if not completely fallacious. It's letters like this that (a) make me hate undergrads and (b) ashamed to be an alumnus of this place. The only comfort I can take is that I know there are even dumber kids writing letters to the editor at BU and BC (and YU... oy vey!).
