thus the perfume of downtown
cars waiting
and pushing
through the streets
pulsing out their repulsive smokes
the air thick with smells
and my lungs
tight 
full of sludge
that i breathe in all around
no relief 
sweating
standing still
in the cool breeze
in the shade
gasping for a breath of fresh air
a rarity in this town
considered a luxury
being able to breathe
