Overall, I'd say JAMMCon was a surprising success. Throughout the course of the afternoon and evening we had about 30 people show up; there was lots to do and no serious problems at all.
Dealer's area set-up for myself (and another club member) took a bit longer than the hour slot we were given as we had to most stuff to sell. (The tables made a "U" shape and I took up most of one side while she took up the other.) All in all, there were 5 of us selling goods but I think I made out the best in sales (I was selling most items at 50% off their original price) I did the most of my hanging out there, my friend Tresea came with a giant box of her VHS/DVDs to sell (added it to my stuff) and we played a lot of catch-up since I hardly get to see her.
We had about 5 or 6 TVs set up with video games (one, we found wasn't working properly though) and that drew a lot of people (especially Taiko no Tatsujin). Someone even brought in GG1 XD so I escaped to play that for a bit.
Panel-wise, mine was the last one for the day. The Yaoi/Yuri panel seemed to go over really well (I couldn't go to it, still setting up my stuff). There were also panels on Silent Hill and Pokemon (run by club members) "Beck" was the screened anime of choice (but again, I did not go watch. I'm not into anime that much anymore) and around 7pm, it was time for the Cosplay Panel.
Initially, I thought I'd be okay with what I had prepared (I had a whole hour) but somehow I ended up going over all my information in about 15 minutes. o_O;; Thankfully, there was a lot of Q&A and we spend the remaining time doing make-up demonstrations (I had brought my kit with me as a visual aid) Everyone seemed enthralled with some of the things I presented/said, so I think it's likely we'll be including a few cosplay segments in future meetings.
Cosplay turn-out was slightly better than I expected. I went as Sephy (as Sol is still damaged and I have yet to get the time to properly fix him) one girl recognized me right away! XD There was one girl dressed up in maid-attire, but from nothing specific, a Silent Hill girl (whom I mistook for Ashley from RE4)and a random Faust. None of the guys braved a costume though...
Okay, picture time! Just two shots of Sephy (which are also
here)
I think I look a little pale...need to get out more ^^;
For those curious, the bangs are a wig, all the other hair is my own, which you can't really see anyways -_-; (This surprised a lot of people at the con :D)
And this was a little random, but I sketched it up yesterday afternoon before work~
Plain typing/printing paper, 0.05 lead (I can't stand using 0.07 unless I have to)
Pure sketchy-ness, I didn't clean it up, but my roughs are getting cleaner so it's not that bad.
Normally I don't draw anthro-y characters, but these two (Aka the rabbit and Sei the cat) just struck me as such. There still some issues with angles and proportions, but I think I'm getting better. Oh, and bonus points to those who know what those two are looking at. ^^
