So in exactly one month from now I will be living in an apartment in Boulder, CO and attending a graduate teaching assistant seminar. I will be taking course in Engineering analysis, fluid mechanics, solid mechanics, research, and Chinese. I am taking Chinese just for fun; I had a semester of it at Stetson and I really enjoyed it. It is very crazy, I have to do several errands very quickly when I get there. The weather there will require me to get some warm weather clothing. I also need to get a new DL for Colorado, get a new phone, and several other things. I am looking forward to starting school there, but it will not be easy.
Lately I have been working on my two classes, teaching the lab course, and teaching at the learning center. Classes have been alright, I've gotten As and Bs on my first tests, but I really do not enjoy my general relativity class. General Relativity is one of the most useless things I could be doing, but the department head claimed that it was necessary for me to take the class (although I think he wasn't telling the truth since he teaches the class and I heard a different story from a different professor). The C++ class is interesting; this is my first time learning a programming language.
Lately teaching at the learning center has had it's ups and downs. Some of the kids don't always want to do the work, so it takes a little bit more to get them to do things. Too bad I can't smack with a ruler like a nun. But yesterday I was very happy because I got one of my students to smile. She is normally very shy and quiet and she rarely smiles. So I set a goal for myself and actually made her smile multiple times when I was working on some math problems with her. For me personally, that was a huge victory. I don't really care if the students like me or hate me in the end, but I want them to enjoy themselves when they do math. I just want them to realize that they can actually have fun and laugh even while working on a subject they may not like so much.
Anyway, I hope all are doing well...
