you were kind
the season changed
now
in the summertime of my mind
my thoughts are rearranged
a new confidence nourishes
the flowers, which flourish like
fireworks they burst
into colour, dispelling the darkness of self doubt
from my healed heart
admirers cluster round
observe the unique beauty of the orchid
and bold contented rose
which grew from the dull, dry ground
where stifled seeds were hid 'til
eager they arose
it was you who cleansed the beds of weeds
who moved the seedlings out of the shadows
your light and warmth give me all I need
to bloom and blossom and healthily grow
'the garden looks cared for now', people say as you
carry on sweeping the dead leaves away
