i went swimming this morning at hougang swimming complex. by the way, NEVER go to any public swimming complex on a weekend. unless you're in by the time it's open at 7.30am. i swear i've never seen so many screaming children in the same place all at the same. the decibels of sound emitted were incredible.
on a side point,
idiavalo and me were talking about public toilets. or rather, the guys toilet to be exact. i never knew that it's normal enough to find common shower areas in male toilets. that is, common shower areas sans cubicles.
what in the world does this mean? i'm not talking about cultural differences here as in the case of the japanese who are, i think, in a whole category of their own. is it assumed that men are less embarrassed about their naked bodies than women? when a man is seen naked, it's normal or maybe it's just shower time. when a woman is seen naked, it's a violation of her modesty. i suppose most men don't look at other men in lust, the way they look at women, hence the violating of modesty. but can't women lust after men and be perfectly capable to violating their modesty too? oh yes we can.
why is it more acceptable for men to be naked in front of other strange men and sometimes, women? a man displays himself in all his naked glory. ok, so he's got a big ego and if he's got a body to match up to that, that's fine. a woman strips for any reason and she's cheap(ened).
in comparison, are men perhaps just less discreet about their inherent interest in all things sexual? and therefore, as a result of millenias of living with prefectly normal, horny men who can't keep their hormones nicely tucked away under the bed before they go out to meet the rest of the world, society just adapts and accomodates. so a social principle develops that says horny men are normal but horny women are not.
