I finally started reading 1984, something I've been meaning to do long before it was a cheesy reality series. So, I'd like to put my favourite quote so far (keep in mind, I just started):
(in describing the 4 ministries of Oceania) "...The Ministry of Peace, which concerned itself with war. The Ministry of Love, which maintained law and order....The Ministry of Love was the really frightening one. There were no windows in it at all.... It was a place impossible to enter except on official business, and then only by penetrating through a maze of barbed-wire entanglements, steel doors, and machine-gun nests.
