Day 2 San Fran

Apr 17, 2006 20:02

Ok the day was supposed to begin with a trip to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate bridge but tickets were sold out so that will be a Tuesday trip. So a quick change brought us to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. We began with a quick steetcar trip which was way cheaper and nicer than the trolley (screw you Trolley Nazi). We paid our 5.50 and off we went. We did a quick survey of the Pier before finding the sea lions that have taken over a portion of the Pier. They are huge and hypnotic. Juan said you could sit there all day and watch and he was right. We snapped loads of pics then figured out we were hungry. The boys of course wanted a huge breakfast and had their eyes set upon a fire at a surf style cafe. So we gave in, ordered fruit for us and then watched them pig out on pancakes, eggs, bacon, and waffles. RL and I were olding out for fish and chips. After eating it was the arcade so that the kids could blow off some steam. After that we were supposed to hit the Bay Aquarium but I didn't want to do the same old boring stuff. I mean, if you have been to one aquarium you have been to them all. I wanted to hit Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum so that is just what we did. The tribe was leary about going but once in we had great fun looking at all the freaky stuff. It was great and unusual. Before that though, (I forgot) we had happened upon a submarine which we didn't want to pay to tour but right next to it was this antique mechanics museum. This place had the slow picture shows you put a penny in to view. The XXX shows, old geographic clips, penny arcade games. even a show that was british and would show you the last rites and hanging of a prisoner. It was all in the same odd and intriguing. I guess it all fit in with the theme of the day. So after all the viewing of the odd we did some shopping for Juan's g/f, jewelry for me, magnets for the frig, and jackets for RL which was a bust. We were hungry and happened upon the Rainforest Cafe which was a memorable place we had eaten at in Galveston so we thought it would be nice to revisit here in San Fran. The place was multi-level and worth the fun for our tribe. We ate big again, even got a VOLCANO dessert for Jordan as they sang a belated bday to him. He so desired to have this done so RL made sure to him feel special. By the end of dinner Juan and I were fading so off to find the streetcar home. We waiting for some time before piling into the car like sardines. Funny enough, we encountered yet another Nazi type on the streetcar. So this makes 3 encounters in San Fran of the Nazi type: first the toilet Nazi, next the Trolley Nazi, and now the Streetcar Nazi. We won't count the foreigner who yelled at Jordan while we waited for streetcar. He might be considered the foreigner Nazi but I guess I don't want to get out of hand with the yelling people of San Fran. I do so want to believe the people here are nice and friendly. Oddly enough, we haven't made the acquaintances here that we usually do on our trips. Could be we are just keeping our tribe tight. Who knows? Maybe we will find some friedly folks on our adult night out tonight. I am hoping to take the Chief out and have some one on one time with him. He has been awesome in keeping us straight and safe here. I shall let the readers know what comes of the night....till then play safe and have fun.
