History
Many years before the beginning of the canon, Ryuuichi formed the Nittle Grasper with Seguchi Tohma - synthesizer - and Ukai Norkio - keyboardist. Their popularity was almost instant as they grabbed the audience with Ryuuichi's powerful vocals and lyrics. For almost a decade, Nittle Grasper ruled the charts and pop culture. Their music was such a rage that they once sold twenty million records with two days of its release! As well as they were doing, Ryuuichi suddenly wanted to go solo. Something just wasn't right, and he had to find the answer himself. This came as a complete surprise to his band mates, and when he left for America to pursue the solo career, Noriko and Tohma were forced to disband Nittle Grasper. When asked some years later why they didn't try to savage the group, Tohma said that "there just was no Grasper with Ryuuichi".
Personality
Ryuuichi is a double-edged sword. You never quite know what is going through his head. In his everyday life, he is childish and sensitive. Clinging to his best friend and companion Kumagouro, a pink bunny plush, he doesn't seem to take much of anything seriously. He would rather play and eat candy than behave as a normal, mature man of his age. Having such a child-like persona, he can be very affectionate and caring. It is perhaps the quality that people value most about him. He has gone as far as to drag people away from everything just to get a breath of fresh air and refocus on what really matters. Such ideas as coloring and going to the park are usually at the top of his list to do, cheering along with the other five year olds...
However, beneath this personality dwells a real dragon, regal and serious. It wasn't his inner child that got him to the top of the record charts and held his throne. He takes his music very seriously, for it is his language. The only other instance that he becomes sober is when he is moved to anger. His Ares nature doesn't rule him, but when he sees people that abuse their position or take advantage of people, his ram will charge. This rarely seen side of him is typically a shock to people, since he comes across as an air-headed boy. Fortunately, it takes a lot to get him upset, so most don't even know. Above all, Ryuuchi wants to enjoy living, and he wants his friends to find that same joy he has.
