Women are just "strays" (triggering)

After the Grand Final (our football premiership) a woman has alleged that she was raped by two football players. This has been the response by our media and well known footballers;
[The behaviour of AFL players] is in the spotlight. They know that," Kennerley said while interviewing Everitt on her Channel Nine show, Mornings with Kerri-AnneRead more... )

Wow, seriously?? The girl is a terrible person for apparently throwing herself at this athlete, but he's not a terrible person for, you know, taking advantage of someone who's too drunk to give consent? Huh, the more you know.

Just who is this Kennerley jerk, anyway? Does she blame the victim often? D:

The milo comment by Spider Everet is fucking appalling too- silly me, I should know that going up for a coffee = sex with everyone present!

I note that so many people told off Kennerley that comments have now been closed.

I'm very tired of people blaming the victim. Why is it that people always assume that if a woman gets raped, in some way she manipulated the rapist into raping her?

Because that's what victim blaming comes down to.

It says: "Men are not capable of acting responsibly. They are not capable of asking a woman for consent. If they see her wearing something provocative or getting drunk or just being alone late at night, it's all HER fault if something happens, because women are MUCH stronger than men. Even if her judgment is impaired and his isn't. She's a WOMAN and she's supposed to be responsible for how men react to her. Why on earth would we expect adult males to be responsible for their own actions?"

I've been raging about this since the story broke yesterday. Fucking victim blaming bullshit.

Oh, DON'T read the comments at any of the sources. I read them at the SMH and almost put my head through a wall. Fuck people.

"'...The responsibility lies with the girls as well as with the guys when you're talking about alcohol-fuelled situations at three o'clock in the morning.'"

I have... so many issues with this line. Nevermind that women were RAPED - they dared to get drunk! At 3AM! Shame on those "strays" for not realizing that men are just drones who don't know any better and can't help themselves!
