France moves closer to ban on burqas

French lawmakers could recommend Tuesday that the fiercely secular country ban the burqa, the full-body covering worn by some Muslim women.

I find it kind of funny how men who are usually quite chauvinist suddenly become so concerned with womens rights when it has to do with muslim garnments.

How dare those women dress in traditional clothing of their own free will! It's not like there are other people out there who cover up more than most people think is needed for religious or personal reasons. ...Oh wait.

Ok so...it's defending a woman's freedom and liberty to forcibly take away her right to wear religious garb? Because obviously she cannot possibly be 'smart' or 'educated' enough to make that choice? Buhh... These kinds of arguments just break my brain. Seriously, how does that make any sense?

even police find it hard to imagine how they could -- or would -- enforce such a ban.

Sounds like even the police think this is a dumb idea.
