I'm just trying to get other peoples views and opinions.

What do you think Rage Against the Machine stood for? What ideas and principles did they try to convey? Do you think they were left wing, right wing, or what? What were they for and against?

Well, I think they support the thought that the people shouldnt be ruled by a government or anyone for that matter. They see everyone in Capital Hill as corrupt pigs who just want to see all minorities out of the country. When they defended Mumia Abu-Jamal, or Leonard Peltier, or the people of Mexico, or whoever. They also wanted to fuel the youth with a sense of "Hey, mabye those guys arent always right."

they did state at one point that the 'machine' was really whatever you wanted it to be. for them it was obviously everything political they were against, but it's cool that they sort of left that out in the open for everyone else to pick what they wanted it to stand for.

Well, they certainly weren't right wing.

I think they transcend labels. To me, I think they wanted people to start paying attention to what's happening in the world.
