25 Things....

Feb 11, 2009 17:35

1) I was named after a city. In Israel. Apparently the water there matches the color of my eyes

2) I have an ink kink. I love tattoos. But only when they’re on other people.

3) Driving fast in the summer, with the windows rolled down and having the music blasting so loud that your ears ring is one of the best feelings in the world. Thank god Richmond Hill is close enough to nowhere that the speed limit is always....questionably kept.

4) Blogging is my way of connecting with the world on a level that is both obsolete and vitally important. Trying to explain it further never works.

5) My musical taste is off the wall - and I’m told that it contrasts greatly with the image that I present

6) Most people will never be lucky enough to be let in past that image. They’ll just have to learn to live with it

7) Nervous breakdowns are not worth the time spent recovering from them, no matter what other people say.

8) I identify strongly with the idea of tradition in my life - yet another contrast to the way I sometimes present myself (apparently). Most people will find it confusing. More-often-than-not, I don’t care that they do

9) Old movies rock my world harder than any newly processed sap that Hollywood tries to dish out. Nothing will beat the sickly sweet nostalgia that is “Singing in the Rain” or “Mary Poppins” or “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” Ever.

10) This is getting ridiculously hard to fill out. Mainly because it’s hard to consider the random worth the time I’m putting into this list.

11) People who buy into the purely physical aspects of the “Beauty” paradigm piss me off. The world cannot be toothpick-thin, it's round -- and fuck you if you think that starving yourself, or plasticizing your body with jellies and toxins will make you any more beautiful than me.

12) To me, religion was created as a means of controlling the public. I don’t believe in paying to pray, and I don’t believe that the Bible was written by an indefinite being who has total control over existence and whatnot. I DO believe in faith and spirituality.

13) Music is the auditory expression of our souls. No matter how chaotic, or overly-organized it is

14) I have the bad habit of falling out of touch with people because I never have time to write proper letters. And when I do find the time, the words get stuck and my hand refuses to move

15) I am an “out and proud” My Chemical Romance fan-girl. I own all of their CDs, their DVDs, and 3 out of 4 of their limited edition vinyl records. I don’t care if you don’t like them. But you have no fucking right to judge me on my love of them either.

16) I miss Saturday morning cartoon shows that were worth watching, no matter how cheesy - HeMan, Mummies Alive, Pipi Longstocking, Animaniacs, LoonyToons, all of ‘em.

17) I love my cat. I don’t care that she’s a bitch, and that she’ll hate you just because you’re not family. I love her and that’s all that matters.

18) My philosophies are based on my beliefs and experiences. They mean the world to me, and - for the most part - will exemplify how I will try to live my life. I won’t hold you to them, but I will expect you to respect them

19) I’m a dreamer. I live half of my life in my head. And sometimes, the adventures I have there will trump anything that can or will happen to me here.

20) I think this list is......ridiculous, but the blog-whore that lives in the dark corners of my mind is forcing me to do it. I currently hate her.

21) I should be making a dent in the pile of work that is sitting in front of me. But instead, I’m feeding my facebook addiction. How sad is that?

22) Love at first sight probably doesn’t exist. But it’s a pretty notion to think about isn’t it?

23) I hate horror movies and gore movies, but don’t mind thrillers. I understand the draw to horror, but I think that any movie/thing that will terrify to the point of a fear-induced orgasm is on the wrong side of ridiculous

24) Vampires are cool--> Lestat being the best of them. But Edward Cullen is a weak stand-in and more than a bit of a joke.

25) Writing is the one thing that I can do without worrying about the clichés of the world, rejection or making lasting impressions. If you love my words, great. If you don’t, I don’t care. It is simply another way for me to bleed out all of my extra stress and tension. One more way for me to connect dream and reality. One more insurance policy on keeping my feet on the ground and my head in the stars.
