Here is a summary of the weekend
apollo18 and I had in Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention this past weekend. We actually just got home earlier today. The entry is super-long so I used an LJ Cut for everyone's benefit. Click on it if you like.
Also, at the very bottom are some of our pics from this weekend. These pics were taken with my digital cam. There are more coming as soon as

There are descriptions in the form of ALT tags, so you can hold ur mouse over each thumbnail to see what it is of. Please let me know if any othe these links are not working!
WARNING: None of the pictures are flattering images of us :(
FRIDAY-
We aimed to LEAVE my house at 6:00, but of course, we were late from the start. After leaving my house we had to go to Wally World (aka Wal-Mart) to pick up film and a new headlight for my car. It was 7:00ish when we finally left Westminster.
The drive up to Philly was horrible. It was foggy and raining the entire way! I was a little stressed throughout the drive. I hate driving somewhere I am not familiar with, especially when I can't see anything!
We got to the hotel around 10, checked in and raced to the room. It was such a relief to drop our bags and relax. After we got settled we headed down to the convention to give it a once over. The best moment was when we picked up one of the program flyers and I saw my ad in it! I nearly cried! It was so awesome, especially with this being my first ad in print.
SATURDAY-
We slept in a bit on Saturday morning before heading down to the hotel lobby for breakfast, bedhead and all.
After we ate and showered we headed out for a day of exploring on South Street. Our chosen method of transportation was a cab since neither one of us had ever ridden in one before. Yes, I know how pathetic that is.
South Street was pretty cool. Thanks to the recommendations of the awesome people at
philadelphia we were able to navigate ourselves around the city and do some things we otherwise would not have known existed. The shops on South Street were awesome. The only thing that was pretty strange was that there was almost a pattern of TRENDY, FREAKY, HOOCHIE, TRENDY FREAKY, HOOCHIE, etc etc.
For lunch we ate at Johnny Rockets. While we were there we had the pleasure of seeing the waiter/waitresses since and do a dance routine to "Staying Alive" for a customer who was having a birthday. Am I the only one who sees the irony in a 50's themed diner choosing a 70's song for their birthday routine???
After eating we made a journey on Bainbridge Street to check out a Vintage shop. On the way we stopped by Philadelphia Eddie's. and an awesome book store. I was so excited to find Philadelphia Eddie's. I wanted to stop and see it but I forgot to check out exactly where it was. I was thrilled when we stumbled upon it! We went inside to check out the shop and all the flash. We ended up striking up a conversation with one of the artisit's, Professor Ouch, who was a total sweetheart. He gave us all kinds of free goodies and was all around an awesome guy to talk to. Through talking to him, I found out that my friend Dina's fiance actually did a leg piece on the Professor. Although, I am very partial to my beloved tattoo artist, Jason, I may consider getting a small piece from the Professor just because he is such an awesome guy.
Later on, we went nack to the hotel and rested a bit before meeting up with
idratherbedrunk, her sister
pigskin, and their friend Rob. It's always strange when you meet someone in person that you only know from talking on the internet. It boggles your mind because you expect to see their font, user pic, or icon. It's odd to actually have a face to put with that person. All of them were super cool and we had a good time.
There were two bands playing on Saturday night. The first of which wasn't horrible, but they weren't exactly awesome either. The thing that turned me off the most was that the singer was STICK skinny and his pants were falling off of him. They were falling off so much that you could actually see the top of his pubes peeking out of his waistband! *puke barf gag* The second band was Murphy's Law. Their stage show was excellent and the music was rockin. Mid-way through the show a bloody drunk emerged from the mosh pit and went on stage to sing with the lead singer. In doing that, he managed to get some of his blood, which was pouring out of his nose and mouth, on the singer. Thank god for tattoo disinfectant. Ewwwww! Skanky dirty drunk blood!
I think that the coolest thing about the whole convention is that for once I, with my tattoos and piercings, was part of the majority. It was the people with bare flesh who were the outsiders. It was interesting for Erin and I to switch roles. Usually when we got out, I am the one who sticks out like a sore thumb and has to fend off the ignorant comments and nasty looks. This weekend was the total opposite! WeeHoo!
SUNDAY-
After very little sleep, we woke up and sluggishly got ready for checkout. After checking out and getting all our crap to the car, we gave the convention one final once over. We bought all the crap we had been eyeing up all weekend. We ended the convention on an awesome note!
