Is there anything more sublime?

Driving through the desert at twilight, the windows open and the warm night breeze washing over you,and you turn the radio station just in time to begin Eminence Front. There is something about The Who. This Who song in particular that is just made for night driving. Cruising. No place in particular to go, just driving long enough to hear the whole song in surround sound with great bass.

I just got back from seeing the girls off. They head over the mountains to DIA tonight and leave for Germany tomorrow morning. They have graduated high-school. It was a beautiful day for graduation. And now they have the "European Vacation" for three weeks, before starting college in the Fall.

On Wednesday, Mom and Dad are leaving for France and Switzerland-also for three weeks. J is dog-sitting. Poor old fuzz-face. Being blind in one eye and half blind in the other, she has no depth-perception and falls off the steps or the sidewalk, flat on her belly. She is also in pain and stiff with bursitis in her hip and shoulder and hobbles along, she can't move well. You just want pick her up and hug her, but at 100 lbs, it's just not possible so you have to get down on your knees to soothe her over her ouchies. At 12, she won't live to see another winter.

Watching Atlantis tonight, I have been waiting for this episode all season. Even knowing his death was coming, I still cried at the funeral. It was very well done. They didn't cheapen his death. And the respect shown at the service by all members of the community was touching. I really liked that they had a piper and he DIDN'T play Amazing Grace. Nicely ambiguous ending, to leave room like that.
