Hey. I saw your friend request in my inbox and decided to check you out before I okayed it. When I saw this post, I just knew I had to say something. I completely understand what you are going through. For the past year I have been completely miserable. I went to college thinking that when I came out, I would be a teacher. But after I graduated, I wasn't so sure anymore. Right now, I'm living at home with my parents. Neither is the easiest person in the world to live with. My friend has been pestering me for months to move in with her, but she lives 8 hours away. I finally said it's time I stop living for everyone else. It's time I stop doing things just because my parents want me to. It's time I started to live for myself. The first step in doing that is finally moving in with my friend, which I'm going to do at the end of August. I told my mother this the other day and she basically said I was insane and that my friend was was evil and mean and would kick me out.
My point is, there comes a time in your life when you have to decide whether you are going to live the life everyone else expects of you, or whether you are going to live the life that makes you happy. So you can be grateful for everything your parents have done for you, but tell them that it's time you started to live for yourself. Live your life the way you want. Do what will make you happy. No apologies. No regrets. ~May
