RIP Jeff Healey

Mar 03, 2008 19:58

It was October 31st, 1989. J and I had been dating for about  4.5 months and he had gotten two tickets to see this 'amazing' rock guitarist who just happened to also be blind.

We actually got about five feet from the stage, and when Jeff first came out, I was blown away by his talent. After his first selection (Confidence Man), he waved hi to the audience and said "Happy Halloween everyone and we are not the Jeff Healey Band." *cue cricket noises* Jeff grinned and continued "I do a pretty good Jeff Healey don't you think? The guitar in the lap and the head jiggles and squinting at the lights I don't see...."

I thought I was going to soil myself, I was laughing so hard.

Canada (and indeed, the world) has lost a truly wonderful human being.

Rock out wherever you may roam, Jeff. We will miss you!
