Phantoms in a dystopian world full of grey. They sucked the life out of people, and left them a hollow husk.
Sounds a little like the Specters in The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass by Phillip Pullman.
I was a devout member of a church, probably the Catholic Church. There was a beautiful girl, who I loved, but it had to be in secret because I was also a woman.
Your dreams would all make great short stories or novels! I've written stories based on dreams of mine before. I dunno if you're a writer or not, but if you are, you should.
I visited Mazatlan, the forbidden city…went back in time and took pictures of it with my cell phone. I felt like a dirty tourist. But it was so beautiful and terrifying, shining through the haze of smoke with its blood and gold, and the sound of drums…
I only remember my dreams because I've been training myself to remember and writing them down for years and years. Sometimes they're indescribably beautiful, sometimes terrifying. You can do it too. Just keep a notebook next to your bed and write whatever snippets you can remember. I miss hanging out with you and talking in person. I'm staying on the island for a while because I just got a job with the Advertiser, but one of these days we're gonna have to meet up again. Srsly.
